Antarctica
This panoramic photograph of a nesting Gentoo Penguin colony was taken in Antarctica with a Linhof 617 S III Technorama Medium Format Panoramic Camera using Fuji 160 S Professional Negative Film. My long-time friend, Jim Dobeus, traveled with me over three continents and across the most dangerous seas in the World to capture this remarkable image. From the texture of the penguin's coats to the eggs beneath each mother's belly, every minute detail is captured so vividly in large print format. When viewing this print for the first time, Jim put it perfectly by simply saying, "This is Antarctica". Jim was right, when viewing this Antarctic panorama, one can feel the coldness of the air on their face, hear the calls of the penguins and visualize the gentle movement of the icebergs.
Venice, Italy
This panoramic photograph was taken in Venice, Italy with a Linhof
617 S III Technorama
Medium Format Panoramic Camera using Fuji 160 S Professional Negative Film.
My trusty assistants Ashley and sister Jennie accompanied me on this photo shoot.
Jennie and Ashley were helpful in many ways, including navigating our way through and
managing the crowds in the narrow Venice streets. In my opinion, this image captures
Venice in its essence. Note the gondolas in the foreground; the bright blue reflection
of the sky on the emerald green canal; and pastels of the architecture. This shot could
not have been staged better. It was as if we were on a Hollywood set.
Giza, Egypt
This panoramic photograph was taken on the Giza plateau in Egypt with a
Linhof 617 S III Technorama Medium Format Panoramic Camera and a Schneider
Super-Angulon XL 5.6 / 90 mm Lens using Fuji Astia Professional Transparency
Film. Afifi El Shimy accompanied me on this photo shoot, which carried us
up the River Nile from Cairo to Luxor. Afifi is an Egyptologist and good
friend. He is full of incredible knowledge and humor. We had many laughs
as we traversed the sands of the Sahara by camel to get this amazing shot.
Note my trusted camel in the right side of this image and the large alabaster
stones, making for a nice foreground.
Bora Bora, French Polynesia
This aerial panorama was taken by helicopter over Bora Bora,
French Polynesia, with a Linhof 617 S III Technorama Medium Format
Panoramic Camera at f16 using Fuji Velvia 100 Professional Transperancy Film.
To get
this wonderful shot, I was suspended from a helicopter, supported by only a meager harness. It was quite exhilarating to say the least.
Santorini, Greece
This panoramic photograph was taken in Santorini, Greece with a Linhof 617 S
III Technorama Medium Format Panoramic Camera using Fuji Velvia 100F Professional
Transparency Film. My brother Peter accompanied me on this photo shoot and he
proved to be indispensable. I could not have gotten many of my amazing images
without him. If you have been to Santorini, you know that there are hundreds
of domed churches. This image is of the most famous and it only took us two days
to find it. (For those of you who have limited time, it is in Firostefani).
In any event, even though this Church has been photographed on many occasions, I
believe I have a unique image in the vertical panoramic format. I hope you agree.
Kootenay National Park, British Columbia, Canada
This panoramic photograph was taken in Kootenay National Park, British Columbia,
Canada with a Linhof 617 S III Technorama Medium Format Panoramic Camera using Fuji
Velvia 100F Professional Transparency Film. With me was Taylor Gemmel, my Director
of Canadian Sales. We happened to fall upon this amazing site by chance after a
short rest stop. Legend has it that native Indians, endemic to the area, used this
very spot as a source of paint to decorate their pottery and bodies in preparation
for rituals or for battle.
