Peter Lik Recognizes “Ta Prohm Temple” Image

Recently, I received great acclamation from one of my inspirations.  International award winning and world renowned fine art panoramic landscape photographer, Peter Lik, commented  on one of my images of “Ta Prohm Temple” captured in Cambodia.  Lik commented, “Mate.  Seriously.  Love it.  Amazing image, so much feeling to it.  Congrats.  Lucky ya had the soft light.  Sensational.”  This unique image of Ta Prohm Temple was taken in November 2008 with a Linhof 617 S III Technorama medium format panoramic camera using Fuji Velvia 100 professional slide film.  Peter is attributable to the photgrapher I am today and this is truly a great honor for me personally.

The Falkland Island, South Georgia and Antarctica

Last week, I returned from my photo shoot in the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and Antarctica aboard Quark Expedition’s vessel, Ocean Nova.  It was an adventure to say the least.  Along the way, we battled inclimate weather and heavy seas, however, the trip was a huge success.  The expedition team and staff, lead by Brandon Harvey, were exceptional and provided us with the opportunity to photograph seldom seen places, including Steeple Jason Island, Gold Harbour and Cuverville Island.  Some of the images I captured at these locations are included above.  Over the next month, my new material will be posted in waves as part of a new Falkland Islands and South Georgia sub-gallery and in my existing Antarctica gallery.  Please keep a look out!

Oreo Cookies with the Vietnamese Children

dean in schoolOn our November 2008 photo shoot, the SCG team came across a small local school, in session, while hiking through the North Vietnamese countryside.   We shared Oreo cookies with the children and enjoyed some hilarious moments.   When it was time to leave, the children followed us out of the village singing songs and waving “goodbye” with great enthusiasm!
